ENG 037, Writing Tutor Training, is a new course designed to give students a thorough background in the skills necessary to work with learners, including basic skills learners, bilingual learners, ESL learners, and traditional learners.
The course covers the interpersonal skills needed to connect with students. In addition, the course covers the nature of language, how the writing process works to make and retain knowledge, grammatical structures of language, rhetorical strategies for successful writing, and the different styles of writing one must master to successfully negotiate a college and university career.
ENG 037 is a college transferable course for both Liberal Arts and English majors. Upon satisfactory completion of the course you can earn money as a writing tutor while improving your teaching and writing skills by helping others improve theirs. The work is interesting and invaluable for future teachers.
ENG 037, Sect. 1172 meets from 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in South Annex 7. The class still has openings, so don’t delay.
