North Shore Yacht Club to Make a Splash with Renovation

The community of North Shore will be celebrating the groundbreaking for the renovation of the historic North Shore Yacht Club on Monday, Sept. 21 at 4 p.m.

The event will take place at the North Shore Yacht Club site located at 99155 Sea View Drive. Speakers for the event will include Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley; Rob Field, Assistant County Executive Officer of the Economic Development Agency; Jeff Hays, Executive Director of Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment (DACE); and, Jennie Kelly, Executive Director of the East Valley Historical Society and member of the North Shore Community Council.

Aurora Wilson, the widow of the late Supervisor Roy Wilson, will make a special guest appearance.

The North Shore Yacht Club was built in 1958 by Ray Ryan and Trav Rogers, following the design of renowned architect Albert Frey. The 50 year old structure will be revamped with the expert help of architect Tim Holt, while RDP Inc. will handle construction. The 6,500 square foot building will include a senior center, a visitor’s center, a juice bar, a multi-purpose room, an activity room and a museum. For the exterior of the Yacht Club, there will be outdoor dining areas, leisure space, shade structures and playground equipment donated by the Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment (DACE).

“The North Shore Yacht Club is an architectural treasure, and the community of North Shore needs and deserves a place for residents to meet” said Denys Arcuri, Communication Director for the 4 th District Supervisor’s Office. “Restoration of this iconic structure will pay cultural dividends for years to come.”

Construction for the North Shore Yacht Club Community Center will take approximately 18 months and roughly $3.5 million to complete. The project will bring 120 construction jobs to the area as well as a much needed community facility for residents of all ages.
