Calling All Contestants: Queen Scheherazade Apps Due Soon
First the good news about contesting for the title of 2010 Queen Scheherazade for the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival: You don’t have to know how to spell Scheherazade.
Now the bad: It helps.
Deadline for entry in the Queen Scheherazade Scholarship Pageant is Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. This year’s entrants will compete for a $3,500 scholarship prize (the queen) or $3,000 for Princesses Dunyazade and Jasmine. And, no, you don’t know how to spell those, either.
But it helps.
As an entrant, a 17- through 25-year-old young woman will be asked a variety of questions posed by judges, and a 3.0 gpa is required, so knowing how to spell won’t hurt. Contestants will NOT have to compete in a talent or swimsuit competition.
