Overload of Fun is Forecast at P.D. Golf Cart Parade Oct. 25

Perfect weather is not hard to predict in the desert in late October . . . and the 45th Annual Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade is poised to take advantage of it with a full day of family fun.

The Golf Cart Parade is the largest parade of its kind in the world and the longest running in the desert. Celebrating 45 years this Oct. 25, the Parade is much more than a fun, colorful and festive event. It serves as a completely unique vehicle for bringing the community together in true desert style.

On golf carts, naturally.

The City of Palm Desert and the Auen Foundation are this year’s top sponsors for this desert tradition, free to the public.

The Parade steps off at 1 p.m. with the theme: “Playground of the Stars” featuring decorated electric golf carts, larger than life floats, marching bands galore, food booths, children's games, celebrities and dignitaries.

The day is full of activities and the El Paseo venue, of course, is full of amenities.

Palm Desert Rotary Pancake Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. – Located in the Bank of America parking lot, this is an annual favorite and a perfect start to the day.

Golf Cart Show open at 10 a.m. on El Paseo – Distributors and owners bring the latest in souped-up, historic and hot-rod carts for display.  The public votes for the People’s Choice Cart and many get to stroll along in the cavalcade.

VIP “The Reserved Row” is Premier Parade Seating and it’s in the shade. No more rush to find a spot – they are all front row! Convenient concierge service provides refreshments at just $10 each or a VIP Box for $100. The area is in close proximity to the food vendors and beer garden. Space is limited, must RSVP.

Children’s Area and Food Vendors from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The Children’s Area is chock-full of hands- on and interactive games, crafts, a rock wall, petting area, face painting, bounce house and more.  After working up an appetite, the variety of food vendors is on hand.

NEW! Senior Seating – For the 65 and older crowd, with easy parking at The Gardens, this space is guaranteed to fill up in our second year of offering the special reserved seats. Folks will enjoy refreshments and raffle items at no charge included with their reserved shaded spot. It’s free, but you must RSVP.

Entries are still being taken until Oct. 9. Bands, Businesses, Clubs and Non Profits can have fun and gain great involvement and exposure; crowds are estimated at 10,000 or so along the El Paseo parade route. Decorate yourselves and your carts and floats to fit the STAR theme. We are also expecting quite a few celebrity look-alikes and if we’re lucky, maybe the real thing.
