Palm Springs’ 13th annual Veterans Day Parade Slated for Nov. 11
Up to 20,000 people are expected in downtown Palm Springs on Nov. 11 for the City’s upcoming Veterans Day Parade -- always a powerful and poignant event that commemorates those who have served to protect our freedoms.
The parade is slated to kick off at 3:30 p.m. on Ramon Road and head north on Palm Canyon Drive – concluding at Alejo Road. This year’s theme is “Honoring All Who Served.”
Immediately following the parade at Palm Canyon Drive and Amado Road, a post parade concert will kick off, featuring the Marine Corps Combat Center Band from Twentynine Palms followed by a fireworks finale.
Parade sponsors include Veolia Water, Inc., Wells Fargo Bank, Mr. Harold Matzner, Palm Springs Disposal Services, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Desert Water Agency, Mr. Jim Houston, The Gas Company – Sempra Utilities, Time Warner Cable – Desert Cities Division, Riverside County Supervisor Marion Ashley, Southern California Edison, Wintec Energy, Ltd., Mrs. Jo Pond, Mr. Tom Martin, Associated of Naval Aviation, Desert Storm Squadron, Palm Desert National Bank, Lamar Advertising, and Mr. and Mrs. Ric Supple.
With more than 11,000 U.S. Marines and Sailors stationed locally at the Marine Ground Air Combat Center in Twentynine Palms, the City’s Veterans Day Parade is a must see for many Coachella Valley residents who have family serving overseas in Afghanistan or Iraq – or who have lost a loved one fighting in defense of our country.
This year, the Veterans Day National Committee of the Department of Veterans Affairs designated the City of Palm Springs as a regional site for the observance of Veterans Day. Palm Springs was one of only 43 cities nationwide to receive this important designation.
“The City of Palm Springs respects, honors, and appreciates all those who have served and those who continue to serve in our Armed Forces,” said Michele Cirone-Collier, the City’s Special Events Coordinator and Military Liaison. “Through our annual Veterans Day Parade we extend our sincere thanks for all that they have done and continue to do in protecting our country.”
