Supervisor Benoit’s Youth Advisory Council To Present Another New County Fair Event Thursday
INDIO – Riverside County Supervisor John J. Benoit announced today that six high schools will be competing in an inaugural event, to be held Thursday, February 18, from 4-7 PM, at the Grandstand Arena at the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival. The “Best Coachella Valley High School Competition” will feature six-member teams from River Springs Charter, Coachella Valley, Desert Hot Springs, La Quinta, Palm Springs, and Palm Desert High Schools who will compete for the Date Cup Trophy in a variety of athletic and academic contests.
“I’m very proud of the hard work of the students in the Youth Advisory Council, who have volunteered significant time and effort to coordinate two new events in this year’s program,” said Fourth District Supervisor John J. Benoit. “Fresh off their success in hosting the Battle of the Bands, I’m confident this event will also be a great draw!”
High school students are encouraged to attend and root for their team, as admission to the Fair is free on February 18 for any high school student showing valid student ID from 4-7 PM.
The 64th Annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival will run through February 21. Admission prices and ticket purchasing information can be found at www.datefest.org.
