Benoit To Speak At Community Events Tuesday
PALM DESERT – In the absence of a Tuesday meeting of the Riverside County Board of Supervisors, Supervisor John J. Benoit will be speaking at community events, starting with a breakfast at 7 AM at the Palm Springs SunUp Rotary Club at the Palm Springs Holiday Inn (1800 East Palm Canyon Drive). A longtime Rotarian and Past President of the Indio Rotary Club, Benoit will share an update about his new duties as County Supervisor.
From 9:30-11:00 AM, Supervisor Benoit will host an advanced directives seminar at the Tierra Del Sol Community Center in Cathedral City (37-171 West Buddy Rogers Avenue). Hosted in conjunction with the Partnership For End-of-Life Choices, the seminar will help residents with living wills, ensuring that their wishes are fulfilled in the event that they are no longer able to make health care decisions for themselves. There will be a free lunch served after presentations.
“I’m doing a series of "be prepared events," including scam stoppers and home foreclosure defense, and preparing an advanced directive in the event of a life-threatening condition is certainly a great “be prepared” topic,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. "The comfort and security that a living will can bring to family members and loved ones during a moment of crisis is extremely important to all of us."
Following the seminar, at 3:30 PM, Benoit will present remarks at the rededication ceremony for the Jerry Rummonds Memorial Community and Senior Center in Thermal (87-299 Church Street). The 30-year-old center recently completed $210,000 in upgrades in order to improve accessibility and increase energy efficiency.
At 6:00 PM, he will speak before a special meeting of the Desert Edge, Indio Hills, and Sky Valley Community Councils 6 PM at the Indio Hills Community Center (80-400 Dillon Road). The Tri-Council meeting, which was rescheduled due to hazardous weather conditions in January, continues his series of appearances before Fourth District Community Councils.
