Statement On The Passing Of Barry Nestande
PALM DESERT – On Friday afternoon, Barry Nestande, Chief of Staff to Supervisor John J. Benoit, passed away at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center. Supervisor Benoit offers the following statement:
"From the earliest days of my first campaign for the State Assembly in 2001, until lunch yesterday, Barry Nestande was by my side. We were closer than most brothers. We had a shared faith in our God and our country. Working together as a team, we felt we could very effectively represent the interests of our constituents. Barry leaves a beautiful family, many dear friends from church, school, work and hobbies, and a supervisor, who all will miss him dearly."
Barry Nestande served as Chief of Staff through Benoit’s tenure in the Legislature and as Riverside County Supervisor, following Benoit's election to office in 2002. Prior to serving Benoit, Nestande spent years working in politics and in the financial arena and insurance industry. Since November 9, 2002, Barry Nestande enjoyed the love and support of his wife Merrilee, and a loving home life with their two sons, Tyson and Brett.
The Nestande Family has not yet announced services.
