Benoit Appoints Beverly Mays to Palo Verde Healthcare District Board
RIVERSIDE – The Riverside County Board of Supervisors today appointed former Blythe City Councilwoman Beverly Mays to the Palo Verde Healthcare District Board.
Mays will serve the remainder of a four-year term previously held by Dr. Francisco Tejeda. The term expires December 3, 2010.
“Beverly Mays is a consensus builder with a long history of community involvement in Blythe,” said Supervisor Benoit, who recommended the appointment during the Board of Supervisors' meeting. “I am sure she will make an outstanding addition to the Palo Verde Healthcare District.”
The four current directors were unable to agree on a replacement for the vacant seat and opted not to call a special election. California Government Code 1780(f)(1) allowed the Riverside County Board of Supervisors to make the appointment.
Mays worked for the County of Riverside from 1985 to 2006 with the Blythe office of the Department of Social Services. She served a term on the Blythe City Council from 2004-2008.
