Supervisor Benoit to Address AmeriCorps Graduates Friday
INDIAN WELLS – Supervisor John J. Benoit will speak to 25 AmeriCorps graduates at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Indian Wells Country Club (46-000 Club Drive).
“I am grateful that these young people chose a path of public service,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “They committed a year to making a positive difference for Coachella Valley residents.”
AmeriCorps is a national service program established in 1993. Locally, the AmeriCorps Promote program is administered by The Valley Partnership, a non-profit agency based in Palm Desert. The program focuses on literacy in kindergarten through third-grade classes in the Coachella Valley Unified School District.
Additionally, members engage elementary students in science activities after school and participate in monthly community service projects with the City of Coachella, the County of Riverside, Desert Recreation District, and other local entities to clean up dump sites, build houses, clean seniors’ yards, and assist at local events.
