Benoit to Host Community Council Training Program

INDIO – Supervisor John J. Benoit will host a Fourth District Community Council Training Seminar from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26 at the Workforce Development Center (44-199 Monroe Street, Indio), Rm 402.

“Community councils were established to address concerns and serve residents of the county’s unincorporated areas,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit.  “I am glad to offer this training seminar that will boost the professionalism and effectiveness of these special units of local government.”

Tiffany North, deputy county counsel, will speak about the function of community councils and Brown Act standards for public meetings.  Denys Arcuri will provide advice on holding effective meetings.  George Spiliotis, executive officer of the Riverside County Local Agency Formation Commission, will present “LAFCO 101” to brief attendees on sphere of influence, annexation and incorporation issues.
