Supervisor Benoit to Open Saturday’s Thermal Air Show
THERMAL – Supervisor John J. Benoit will speak at the opening ceremony of the 7th Annual Jacqueline Cochran Air Show at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal (56-850 Higgins).
“The Jacqueline Cochran Air Show features some of the most breathtaking displays of airborne talents,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I have enjoyed this show for years and encourage all county residents to take their families to see this fascinating annual attraction.”
Presented by the Riverside County Economic Development Agency and the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport Authority, the free show will feature demonstrations of precision aerial maneuvers from the U.S. Air Force (F-16 Viper West Coast Demo Team, A-10 West Demonstration Team).
Additional performers include the extreme aerobatics of Jon Melby in his highly modified Pitts S-1-11B bi-plane, professional skydivers from the Golden Stars Parachute Team, Melissa Aerobatics, and the Silver Wings Wingwalking Team.
There will be more than 60 food, merchandise and specialty booths. A variety of vintage, military and civilian aircraft will be on display, including a C-17, courtesy of the U.S. Air Force. Children’s activities will include face painting, balloon artists, hands-on hat creations, other crafts, giant bouncers, slides and more.
