Benoit Comments on Animal Services Staff Reductions

PALM DESERT – Supervisor John J. Benoit offers the following comments regarding decreased staffing levels at the Department of Animal Services' Coachella Valley Animal Campus:

“Due to critical shortages in the county’s budget, the Board of Supervisors was recently forced to make some difficult choices in its efforts to reach fiscal solvency,” Supervisor Benoit said.  “I appreciate the community concern about recent staff reductions in Animal Services, and I recognize the importance of animal rescue and adoption services in Riverside County.  However, I want to assure county residents that critical animal rescue and adoption services will be coordinated by existing staff, who will keep the pipeline to rescue groups open.

“The Department of Animal Services is doing everything it can to provide the best possible level of services to county residents given the current economic challenges the county faces.”
