Benoit Presses Transportation Priorities to Federal Officials
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Supervisor John J. Benoit is advocating for Riverside County’s transportation priorities during a visit this week to Washington, D.C.
“I am calling on California’s congressional delegation to bring relief to our most critical and congested freeways,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit, vice chairman of the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC). “It is important to keep projects like the 91 expansion at the forefront to prepare for our region’s growth.”
RCTC is seeking a federal loan to start the SR-91 Corridor Improvement Project to rebuild six interchanges and add general purpose and tolled express lanes in an 11-mile stretch from the Orange-Riverside County line to the City of Riverside. The locally funded highway plan could create 16,000 jobs.
At RCTC’s request, Benoit is representing Riverside County in meetings with federal officials from Monday through today, marking his first absence from a meeting of the Board of Supervisors since taking office more than a year ago.
