Benoit to Address Emergency Volunteers Saturday
THOUSAND PALMS – Supervisor John J. Benoit will reiterate the value of emergency preparedness at the annual Riverside County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Field Day for the Coachella Valley at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, to be held at the Roy Wilson Fire Station and Training Center in Thousand Palms (31-920 Robert Rd.).
“Natural disasters are among the few setbacks to life in the Golden State, but are events that we can prepare for,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “CERT-trained volunteers take an active role in preparing their neighbors and, when disaster strikes, providing life-saving assistance. I commend the citizen volunteers for sharpening their skills at this hands-on training.”
Approximately 100 Coachella Valley residents, who have already completed the 20-hour CERT class, will receive continuing training on light search and rescue, medical triage, light fire suppression and how to respond to building collapses.
