Supervisor Benoit Announces Selection of AQMD Interns
DIAMOND BAR – Supervisor John J. Benoit announces the selection of Vanessa Tanik, Ashley Vo and Kylee Chang who will begin internships with the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD).
“Through these internships, these students will gain invaluable experience working in the largest and most advanced air quality district in the United States,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit, who serves on the AQMD Governing Board. “The interns selected are well-qualified for this competitive and prestigious program.”
A senior majoring in mathematics at the University of California, Riverside, Ms. Tanik will intern in the legislative and public affairs division of AQMD. Ms. Vo, a second year computer engineering major at UC Riverside, will be returning for her fourth summer internship experience, this year in the information management division. Ms. Chang, who recently earned a bachelor of science in chemistry from Loyola Marymount University, will begin her internship in the lab September 6.
Now in its 12th year, AQMD’s student internship program offers firsthand experience in many functions, including engineering and compliance, finance, legislative and public affairs, planning, rule development, area sources and the science and technology advancement office. AQMD interns are given a stipend of $10 an hour for college students and $8 an hour for high school students.
