Office on Aging Moves to La Quinta
LA QUINTA – In order to provide more efficient and centrally located services, the Riverside County Office on Aging has moved its desert satellite office to 78-900 Avenue 47, Suite 200 in La Quinta. The office serves seniors and disabled adults in eastern Riverside County.
Office hours are from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The new office phone number is 760-771-0501.
“The enthusiastic volunteer spirit and abundant energy of our senior residents strengthens many Coachella Valley organizations,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I am glad the Office on Aging took this opportunity to find a professional space that will be put to great use.”
“This new location is convenient for seniors across the Coachella Valley and close to areas where the service need is great,” said Ed Walsh, director of the Riverside County Office on Aging. “ I encourage everyone to make a visit and learn about the programs we offer that enhance the quality of life in our community.”
The office had been located at the Joslyn Center in Palm Desert for more than 15 years.
Now in its 40th year, the Office on Aging’s Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) has more than 1,100 senior volunteers. Throughout 2010, RSVP volunteers committed 148,165 hours of service at Eisenhower Medical Center, schools, animal shelters, citizens on patrol and more than 100 other partner organizations.
Other services provided by the Coachella Valley office include: the physical fitness program, Fit After 50, the Info Van, the Senior Community Service Employment Program and the Multiple Senior Services Program (MSSP). In addition, through a grant from the California Health and Human Services Agency, Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) services are provided from the Coachella Valley office.
“In addition to these services currently being offered, through a new collaborative partnership with the Riverside County Department of Mental Health, this new location will provide prevention services and early intervention and treatment of mental health symptoms in older adults” said Walsh.
