Workshop to Discuss County Housing Goals Wednesday
LA QUINTA – The Riverside County Planning Department is seeking public input on the county’s housing goals at an informational workshop to be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 at the City of La Quinta’s City Council Chambers, 78-495 Calle Tampico.
“The General Plan is the county’s foundation for land-use decisions, stating goals, principles and standards for future development,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “This workshop will be opportunity to review the housing goals county staff is recommending for the current planning period, 2006-2014.”
General Plans are required to include a housing element to assess housing needs for all economic segments of the population, identify local housing policies and set goals and programs to implement housing policies. State law requires the housing element to be revised every eight years to reflect current housing needs and projects.
The draft housing element update is available on the Planning Department’s Web site, www.rctlma.org/planning, under the “What’s New” section, titled “Housing Element Documents – Updated (2006-2014).”
