Date Festival Adds Canada Day: February 23

INDIO – The County of Riverside is honoring its friends from the north next week with the addition of Canada Day at the Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival. All Canadian residents will be admitted into the Fair for free Feb. 23 with proof of residency (valid passport, license or identification card).

"From the beautiful weather to the wonderful activities that abound, the Coachella Valley has become an oasis for Canadians," said Supervisor John J. Benoit. "Canada Day at the Fair is a special new attraction for the thousands of snowbirds who enjoy everything our area offers."

The special honor follows the recent signing of a bilateral agreement between the Canada California Business Council and the County of Riverside calling for the council to market Riverside County as a "destination of choice" to Canadians.

The 66th Annual Riverside County Fair & National Date Festival is presented by Fantasy Springs Resort Casino. The Fair, in Indio, runs Feb. 17-26, 2012. Gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. General admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, $6 for group bus tours, $6 for youth and no cost for children under 5 years of age.
