World-Class Motorsports Venue to Break Ground Thursday
THERMAL – A unique motorsports venue, made up of a couple hundred private garage lots built around a 4.5-mile racetrack, is set to break ground Thursday and become the latest world-class attraction in the Coachella Valley.
“The Thermal Club is an exciting new concept for our region,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “ This attraction is going to bring folks from all over Southern California to buy luxury garages and race their cars. The project exemplifies economic development, bringing tourist amenities and potential for other businesses servicing the racing industry to locate here.”
“We are extremely excited to bring The Thermal Club to life,” said owner Tim Rogers. “Our goal is to create the very best club and road racing facility in North America. Our expectation is a facility that that will rival the best internationally, create an asset that will be renowned and synonymous with the Coachella Valley and revive the rich motorsports history of Riverside County and Southern California.”
The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at 62nd Avenue and Tyler Street in Thermal. The development is located on 344 acres south of the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport.
Members of The Thermal Club will enjoy the 4.5-mile racetrack, designed by international racetrack designer Alan Wilson, which features a 2,500-foot main straightaway and a multitude of challenging turns and configurations. Amenities will include private garage lots, an elegant clubhouse and an on-site restaurant.
Members of The Thermal Club are not allowed to stay overnight on the property and will likely spend their evenings in the Coachella Valley, helping the economy by spending money at local businesses.
Discovery Land Company, developers of The Madison Club and The Hideaway in La Quinta, will manage the development, sales and operation of The Thermal Club.
