Benoit to Open Saturday’s Jacqueline Cochran Air Show

THERMAL – Supervisor John J. Benoit will provide welcoming remarks to open the 2012 Jacqueline Cochran Air Show at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal (56-850 Higgins).

“With free admission and free parking, and plenty of sights and activities for everyone to enjoy, the Jacqueline Cochran Air Show is a must-visit event!” said Supervisor John J. Benoit.

Presented by the Riverside County Economic Development Agency, the Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport Authority and Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, the show will feature some of the top air show performers in the country, including Tim Weber, Sean Tucker, John Collver and returning show favorites Jon Melby and Melissa Pemberton.

Additional entertainment will be provided by professional skydivers from the Golden Stars Skydiving Team, model aircraft, an F-86 aerobatic team, T-28 formation taxi and flybys and the P-51. The grand finale will be a reenactment of the Korean War by aircraft and jeeps from the Planes of Fame Air Museum of Chino, California.

There will be more than 60 food, merchandise and specialty booths and a variety of vintage, military and civilian aircraft on display.

Early arrival is encouraged to allow time for shuttles to transport attendees from the parking area to the airport.
