First Residents of Mountain View Estates to Move in Friday

OASIS – At 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 32 families from Duroville will move into new modular homes at Mountain View Estates. The park is located in the agricultural community of Oasis, near the Salton Sea, at 68-990 Harrison St.

“Arriving to this move-in date is a high point in the county’s steadfast efforts to plan and build a replacement to Duroville,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I am happy 34 families will have a beautiful and safe place to live, with many more families to follow.”

On Tuesday, the Coachella Valley Water District connected the sewer line to serve the mobile home park and, Wednesday, Riverside County issued the certificates of occupancy. The 181-unit park has 41 units already installed on site.

Working with the developer Bobby Melkesian, Desert Empire Homes, the county anticipates 75 families will move into Mountain View Estates by the end of December 2012 and all families by the end of May 2013.

Media is welcome to come to Mountain View Estates. For more information, contact John Aguilar, deputy director of the Riverside County Economic Development Agency’s housing division, at 951-203-6880.
