Supervisor Benoit Announces Battle of the Bands Finalists
PALM DESERT – Supervisor John J. Benoit today announced the five finalists for the Battle of the Bands contest, to be held on Friday, February 12 from 12-4 PM. The local bands, selected by the Fourth District Youth Advisory Council, will compete at the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival for a $1,000 grand prize.
“Battle of the Bands will feature our local talented artists and attract young people to attend the Date Festival,” said Fourth District Supervisor John J. Benoit. “The Date Festival is a great occasion for people around the valley, and around the county, to come together for a good time. I am very pleased that the Youth Advisory Council is taking a lead in volunteering for this annual attraction.”
The five finalists are: Caxton (Palm Desert), Arise from Ruin (Moreno Valley), Bodegas (Indio), Cake and Brains (La Quinta), and Rip Torn (Palm Desert).
The 64th Annual Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival will run from February 12 through February 21. Admission prices and ticket purchasing information can be found at www.datefest.org.
Supervisor John J. Benoit represents the Fourth District on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. Stretching from the Palm Springs area south to the Salton Sea and east to the Colorado River, it is the largest geographical district in the county.
