Benoit to Ride in Fourth of July Parade as Grand Marshal
LA QUINTA – Supervisor John J. Benoit will serve as grand marshal in the Fourth of July parade presented by La Quinta Chamber of Commerce, the city of La Quinta and the Desert Recreation District.
The parade will start at 7 p.m. Thursday at Old Town La Quinta, traveling through Main Street and ending at La Quinta Community Park, 77-865 Avenida Montezuma.
“Independence Day celebrates the ideals that make our country a beacon of liberty,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I am excited to be a part of this celebration, and honored to ride in the parade as the grand marshal!”
The second annual parade is part of the daylong La Quinta Red, White & Blue Celebration. From noon to 4:30 p.m., the public can swim for free at Fritz Burns Park Pool compliments of the Family YMCA of the Desert. A chili cook-off, kid zone, beer garden, vendors and entertainment will start at 4:30 p.m. at La Quinta Community Park. A fireworks show will start approximately at 9 p.m., sponsored by La Quinta Resort & Club.
