Seminar to Help Businesses, Consumers Stop Intellectual Property Crime

INDIO – Businesses and consumers are invited to a seminar at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 to learn how to protect themselves from intellectual property crimes, such as trademark counterfeiting and copyright piracy.

“The participation of businesses and consumers is needed to help law enforcement agencies fight intellectual property crimes,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “Businesses and consumers should get educated, and afterwards, enjoy networking and a good time at the valley’s largest business to consumer expo.”

Hosted by Supervisor Benoit in conjunction with the Riverside County District Attorney’s office, the seminar will include presentations from deputy district attorneys and Assemblyman Brian Nestande. It will take place at the Special Events Center at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, 84-245 Indio Springs Drive.

Local businesses that attend the seminar will get free admission into the Palm Desert Area Chamber of Commerce’s business expo and showcase at 4 p.m. More than 120 chamber members will showcase their wares, services, products and facilities to an expected 3,500 attendees. There will be at least a dozen food exhibitors with culinary samples as well as cars, auctions, raffles and more.
