Taxpayers Can Get Information, Property Tax Questions Answered at November 12 Seminar

PALM DESERT – Supervisor John J. Benoit and the elected officials who administer Riverside County’s property tax system will provide an overview of property taxes and answer questions at a free seminar at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12.

The event will be held at the Palm Desert Library, 73-300 Fred Waring Dr.

“With annual property tax bills mailed out and the first installment deadline nearing, now is a good time to learn about the county’s property tax system,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “This seminar will help taxpayers to understand the process and how to seek help if they need it.”

Joining Supervisor Benoit will be Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Larry Ward, Treasurer-Tax Collector Don Kent and Auditor-Controller Paul Angulo.

The topics will include: market value versus appraisal value, how to reassess appraised property value, factors that can increase tax bills more than 2 percent, special property tax exemptions, senior tax incentives, supplemental tax bills and tax payment options and payment plans.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Supervisor Benoit’s office at 760-863-8211.
