Scam Stopper Seminar to be held in Indio Thursday

INDIO – Senior citizens are invited to Supervisor John J. Benoit’s scam stopper seminar at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 to learn how to protect themselves from crimes that target the elderly. The program is free to attend and will take place at the Indio Senior Center, 45-700 Aladdin St.

“I am pleased to continue this successful series that advocates preventive measures to avoid elder abuse, identity theft and consumer fraud,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit.

The seminar is hosted in conjunction with the Indio Police Department, Bureau of Automotive Repair and the Riverside County Curtailing Abuse Related to the Elderly (C.A.R.E.) Program.

The police department will discuss current crime trends and how to protect yourself. The Bureau of Automotive Repair will discuss auto scams. The C.A.R.E. program will address scams targeted at older adults and who to contact for help.
