Youth, Volunteers to Help Clean Up Lake Cahuilla and Mayflower Park Saturday
LA QUINTA – High school students in Supervisor John J. Benoit’s Coachella and Palo Verde Valley Youth Advisory Councils will team up with community volunteers from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 12 to clean up Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area in La Quinta and Mayflower Park in Blythe.
The clean-ups are being organized by the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District as part of National Volunteer Week, which the Youth Advisory Council is joining to help renew the parks.
“Volunteers are tremendously important to taking care of our parks on an ongoing basis, and their efforts make an immediate difference,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I appreciate the youth taking part in these clean-up projects to keep Riverside County’s parks and natural resources areas welcoming places for all to enjoy.”
The Coachella Valley Youth Advisory Council will collect trash and debris throughout Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area, scrub the playground, plant plants, replace benches and help clean up the shade structure. Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area is located at 58-075 Jefferson St., La Quinta.
The Palo Verde Valley Youth Advisory Council will collect trash and debris throughout Mayflower Park, repaint structures and rehabilitate picnic tables. Mayflower Park is located at 4980 Colorado River Rd., Blythe.
All the supplies will be provided to volunteers, who are welcome to join the Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District and Youth Advisory Council in the Saturday clean-ups.
