Benoit to Address Mecca-North Shore Community Council
MECCA – Supervisor John J. Benoit will present a county update and swear in community councilmembers at the Mecca-North Shore Community Council meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 9. The meeting is at the Joel E. Smilow Boys & Girls Clubhouse in Mecca, 91-391 Avenue 66.
“There are many great county improvements and initiatives in the Mecca and North Shore communities that I look forward to sharing with the residents,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I am also excited to swear in the councilmembers of this newly formed council, which will have a very productive year ahead!”
Community councils are advisory boards that provide input to Supervisor Benoit on issues, county services and ideas for improving the quality of life in unincorporated communities. Community council meetings also provide residents an opportunity to receive informative reports from county departments and public agencies.
Wednesday’s meeting will be the first meeting of the Mecca-North Shore Community Council, which was formed by the consolidation of the Mecca and North Shore community councils earlier this year. Nine other community councils meet regularly in the Fourth Supervisorial District to serve the residents of: Bermuda Dunes, Desert Edge, Indio Hills, Mesa Verde, Ripley, Sky Valley, Thermal-Oasis, Thousand Palms and Vista Santa Rosa.
Wednesday’s meeting is open to public. Spanish translation will be provided.
