Meeting to Prepare Sun City Palm Desert Residents for El Niño

SUN CITY PALM DESERT – Representatives from Riverside County and the Coachella Valley Water District will bring a presentation to Sun City Palm Desert on Friday, Dec. 11 to help residents prepare for El Niño.

The presentation will be held at 2 p.m. in Speakers Hall at the Sunset View clubhouse, 36-890 Del Webb Blvd.

“With a high likelihood of a powerful El Niño and extended wet winter season, Riverside County has taken major steps to prepare by clearing drainage, purchasing sandbags and securing large emergency equipment,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “I thank the Sun City Palm Desert Community Association for hosting this presentation, which will help residents learn what they need to do to be ready.”

The Riverside County Emergency Management Department (EMD) has given El Niño preparedness presentations to community groups throughout Riverside County. Supervisor Benoit and representatives from the Coachella Valley Water District and the Riverside County Transportation & Land Management Agency will join EMD in Friday’s presentation.

The presentation is open to Sun City Palm Desert residents and the media are invited. For more information, please contact the Sun City Palm Desert Community Association at 760-200-2223.
