New Business Center Aims to Foster Business Success, Advance Economic Development
INDIO – Supervisor John J. Benoit invites the public to join him Monday in inaugurating the Coachella Valley Business Center, a one-stop hub to assist entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes.
The Coachella Valley Business Center brings in new partnerships and more programs to the Workforce Development Center in Indio, adding to the business services provided by Riverside County, the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of California Employment Development Department and partner organizations.
A grand opening ceremony will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at the Workforce Development Center in Indio, 44-199 Monroe St. The ceremony will highlight the county’s recent designation as the host of the Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center and partnership with the East Valley Coalition.
“The Coachella Valley Business Center will attract and support businesses to our area, and work closely with people looking to start a business, move their business here, or stay and grow their company,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “Our partnerships with the Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center and East Valley Coalition augment an impressive array of resources available to businesses at this location.”
The Riverside County Economic Development Agency rebranded an existing employer resource area into the enhanced Coachella Valley Business Center. Businesses can access an abundance of services including: site selection, business financing, demographic and market analysis data, workforce recruitment, business seminars, and assistance with entitlements and permitting.
The center will serve as host for the Coachella Valley Small Business Development Center. After a competitive process, in July, the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network Lead Center selected Riverside County to operate the Coachella Valley SBDC. The SBDC will provide professional, confidential and no-cost business consulting services, including one-on-one counseling and training, to individuals starting a business or improving an existing business.
The East Valley Coalition, a partnership of Riverside County and the cities of Coachella, Indio and La Quinta, will also be co-located within the center. The East Valley Coalition was formed to jointly manage, coordinate, market and administer economic development programs and projects in the eastern Coachella Valley. The East Valley Coalition will work closely with the Coachella Valley Business Center and its partners to help small businesses start up, expand, move into empty storefronts and provide jobs in the eastern Coachella Valley.
Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, there will be tours, refreshments and networking. At 1 p.m., the public can attend workshops on Small Business Development Center programs and marketing. The workshops will be held in the Coachella Valley Business Center.
