County Mobile Health Clinic to Expand Health Services to North Shore
NORTH SHORE – Starting Friday, Riverside County’s mobile health clinic will be stationed in North Shore monthly to provide health services, free of charge, to Riverside County residents.
From 8 a.m. to noon on the fourth Friday of each month, the county’s mobile clinic will provide health services at the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club Community Center.
Supervisor John J. Benoit, who helped establish the monthly mobile clinic visits to North Shore, invites the community to join him for a ribbon cutting to launch this service. The event will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23 at the community center, located at 99-155 Sea View Dr.
“I was proud to work with the Riverside University Health System and the Desert Recreation District to improve access to health services that are much needed in North Shore,” said Supervisor John J. Benoit. “These services will benefit the community and will be a great addition to the resources available at the community center.”
The mobile health clinic is the latest addition to the resources available at the community center, which hosts Desert Recreation District programs and the district’s new fitness center. The monthly mobile clinic visits will also occur during the Catholic Charities food distribution, which is held weekly on Friday mornings.
The mobile clinic is staffed by a nurse practitioner and two nurses.
Services include primary care, health screenings, well child checks, immunizations, vision and hearing testing and women’s health services. The clinic will also provide patient education and treatment for acute and chronic illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and high cholesterol. Management may include a prescription for medication, teaching and further testing for diagnosing purposes.
No appointment is necessary and services are provided free of charge.
The 40-foot mobile clinic, operated by the Riverside University Health System, was purchased by the health system’s foundation with funds raised by the Southern California division of KB Home. In 2011, the county’s mobile clinic began serving uninsured and underinsured residents in Riverside County communities, including remote areas.
