Supervisor Perez to Open Thursday’s Workforce Summit
INDIO – The 4th Annual Riverside County Workforce Summit will highlight services for businesses and partnerships that are training the workforce of the future, with an emphasis on the local hospitality industry.
The event will be held from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino Special Events Center. The program begins at 8:30 a.m., with opening remarks by Supervisor V. Manuel Perez.
“The hospitality industry is a growing field and one of the pillars of the Fourth District economy, employing thousands of people,” said Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. “This event highlights the innovative training programs and workforce resources offered by Riverside County, educational partners and other entities to benefit the local economy. We aim to connect business and community leaders to address the needs of employers and employees for training in rewarding, long-term careers.”
Scott White, president and CEO of the Greater Palm Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau, will be the keynote speaker.
The program also includes two panel discussions by hospitality leaders and educational partners, with representatives of three valley school districts, College of the Desert and California State University, San Bernardino Palm Desert Campus. Students in high school hospitality academy programs will be in attendance.
The 4th Annual Workforce Summit is organized by the Riverside County Workforce Development Board, Eastern Regional Committee and the Riverside County Economic Development Agency and its Workforce Development Division.
